Introduction
The obligations we have as drivers are important. We must operate our motor vehicles in a safe manner that respects the law and the rules of the road. We must ensure that we do not put others at risk.When you have the right skills and the right attitude, you are prepared to deal with the risks and dangers that drivers face. Safety on the road is everyone's business.
Course Objective
The training is designed to enable a 4WD drivers to manage and maneuver his/her vehicle safely. The trainees will also be taught into the proper and comprehensive Vehicle Maintenance procedures and protocols.
The aim of this 4WD training course is to improve your knowledge and skills in safely operating a four-wheel-drive vehicle in a variety of hazardous conditions and all-weather situations in regional and remote Malaysia. Poor driving habits in a 4WD vehicle can unknowingly increase your maintenance costs and the consequences can be expensive or even life threatening. This is also to increase the level of skill of the 4WD user that can be very challenging to carry out the daily task.
Trainees will be assessed on the understanding of new knowledge and the ability to apply the newly acquired skill on the roads.
Course Content
- Inculcation of positive mindset and attitudes
- Introduction to road accident and exposures statistical awareness & analysis.
- Introduction of road hazards and exposures – causes of crashes & collision.
- Understanding of Vehicle Mechanics.
- Introduction to Vehicle Pre-drive Checks (PDC).
- Introduction to Defensive Driving Concept & Technique; and hazard perception.
- Use of seat belts & mobile phones; drink & drive concerns and issues. Defensive driving.
- Update on law as road users.
- 4WD limitations and risk.
- Four wheel drive systems (Partial and full engagement).
- Right engagement and disengagement of low range.
- Vehicle recovery techniques-Precaution and dangers.
- Ascending and descending slopes.
- Driving on soft terrain(Mud/Sand/Logs/Rocks).
- Stall recovery from steep terrain.
- Vehicle technology when Off Road (Pro's and Con's).
- Understanding and managing fatigue.
- Tyre selection, maintenance and inflation.
- 4WD limitations and risk with challenging environment.
- Seating position and cabin safety.
- Dealing with animal strikes.
